Camion poubelle électrique : gestion durable des déchets urbains
Feb. 2 2026
Waste collection is an essential public service. Yet, refuse trucks are often associated with noise, emissions and restricted access in densely populated urban areas. Today, municipalities, private operators and contractors face growing pressure to modernise fleets and reduce environmental impact.
With Renault Trucks E-Tech, the electric refuse truck, also known as the electric bin lorry, offers a powerful solution. It combines reliable performance with zero emissions and near-silent operation, helping cities and communities manage waste more sustainably while improving quality of life.
Pourquoi choisir un camion poubelle électrique ?
Refuse collection vehicles are among the most visible and frequently used trucks in urban environments. Their shift to electromobility delivers major benefits:
- Reduction of CO₂ emissions: Cleaner air for communities, compliance with Low Emission Zones (LEZ) and contribution to municipal decarbonisation targets.
- Silent operation: Noise is reduced by up to 10 dB compared with diesel trucks, enabling early-morning and late-night collections without disturbing residents.
- Lower cost of ownership: Thanks to lower electricity costs, high energy consumption and efficient energy recovery during stop-and-go waste collection, TCO is significantly better.
- Improved public image: Quiet, clean trucks reinforce the reputation of municipalities and contractors as sustainable, responsible service providers
Les avantages des bennes à ordures Renault Trucks E-Tech
Cleaner cities, healthier communities
Diesel refuse lorries contribute significantly to NOx, CO₂ and particulate emissions. Switching to electric refuse trucks drastically cuts local pollution and greenhouse gases, improving public health and supporting local authority climate goals, especially in LEZ and ULEZ zones.
Lower costs and greater efficiency
With fewer moving parts, no oil changes and regenerative braking, maintenance costs are reduced by up to 30%. Energy efficiency is also improved, particularly on stop-and-go urban collection routes where electric drivetrains perform best.
Quiet performance and safety
Electric bin lorries operate almost silently, reducing noise pollution in residential areas. Drivers also benefit from smooth acceleration, less vibration and better manoeuvrability, improving comfort and safety during long shifts.
Les solutions E-Tech de Renault Trucks pour la collecte des déchets
Renault Trucks offers a dedicated range of vehicles adapted for waste collection applications:
- Renault Trucks E-Tech D Wide: the benchmark for refuse collection, available in 16, 19 and 26-tonne versions. Ideal for side-loaders, rear-loaders and compactors.
- Renault Trucks E-Tech D: lighter models for smaller municipalities or narrow urban streets, ensuring maximum agility.
Both models are designed to integrate seamlessly with refuse collection bodies and equipment, while offering up to 44 tonnes GCW for larger configurations.
Des solutions de recharge adaptées aux opérations de ramassage des ordures
Waste collection requires frequent stops and predictable routes, making electric operation perfectly suited to this duty cycle. Renault Trucks provides charging options to ensure maximum fleet availability:
- Overnight charging at the depot: AC charging infrastructure enables vehicles to recharge efficiently during off-hours, guaranteeing a full battery every morning.
- Rapid charging along the route: DC fast chargers placed at key points allow quick energy boosts during scheduled pauses, keeping trucks active throughout even the most intensive workdays.
Our charging experts design and implement infrastructure adapted to your fleet size, route profiles and depot facilities.
